What stays on your device
Your video and audio recordings never leave your phone. The Whisper speech-recognition model runs locally and turns your voice into text on-device. Only that transcript text and the numeric measurements the app derives from your recording (things like speech pace, pitch variance, eye-contact ratio) are sent to our servers.
What we collect
- Your Sign in with Apple identifier — and, if you share it, the email Apple returns (usually a Hide-My-Email relay).
- The transcript and numeric measurements described above.
- The written feedback we generate for each analysis, so you can compare it against future takes.
- Your subscription state (free tier vs. paid) and free-tier usage counter. Payment details are handled by Apple; we never see your card.
- Aggregate error logs. No tracking pixels, no ad networks.
How we use it
We use the data to run the analysis, produce the feedback, let you compare against your previous takes, enforce the free-tier quota, and keep the service running. We do not train any machine-learning model on your data, and our LLM inference provider has agreed contractually not to use content sent through their API for training either.
Where the data lives
Transcripts, measurements, feedback and account records live in an EU-region database (Frankfurt), encrypted at rest. The LLM that writes the feedback runs on cloud infrastructure that may briefly route the request through a US region during inference; nothing about that request is retained after the response is returned.
How long we keep it
As long as your account exists. When you delete your account (see below) everything is removed immediately — the delete is permanent and there is no grace period. Anonymised billing records may be retained for tax purposes after the account is gone.
Your controls
- Export your data from Settings > Export my data. You get a JSON file with your profile, analyses, measurements, feedback, transcripts, weekly goals and feedback ratings.
- Delete your account from Settings > Delete account. Immediate, permanent.
- Revoke Sign in with Apple from your Apple ID settings. This signs you out of Persona Lens permanently.
Age rating
Persona Lens is intended for use in line with the App Store age rating shown on the app's store listing.
